Prescription Error

What does Prescription Error mean?

Prescription errors are a common cause of medical malpractice cases and can occur for a variety of reasons including diagnostic errors, blood transfusion errors, improper maintenance of medical equipment, incorrect dosage of medication, and giving the incorrect type of medication to a patient.

Medical experts suggest with the increased number of patients taking medication, understaffing at hospitals, inaccurate inventory of supplies, and poor training there has been an increase in prescription errors.

Prescription errors can be very serious and can lead to dangerous health conditions such as kidney and liver damage, burns to the digestive system, high blood pressure, brain injury, internal bleeding and death. If a prescription injury led to your severe injury you may be able to file a medical malpractice lawsuit against the responsible party. Consider, however, a mistake is not sufficient for a case, you also must prove negligence and injury.
