Declaration of Readiness to Proceed

What does Declaration of Readiness to Proceed mean?

A Declaration of Readiness to Proceed (DOR or DR) is a form used in California workers' compensation claims to declare an injured worker's intent to proceed with the work comp case and request a conference call with the local Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB) office.

Either the injured worker or their work comp lawyer may file the Declaration of Readiness to Proceed form. The goal of filing the Declaration of Readiness to Proceed form is to allow disputed work compensation claims to be heard and reviewed by the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board Judge.

A Declaration of Readiness to Proceed form can be used to resolve a variety of issues including disputes involving temporary disability benefits, future medical treatment, compensation rates, permanent disability ratings, vocational rehabilitation, discovery, self-procured medical treatment, and penalties.

After the form has been submitted a conference will be scheduled. In addition to submitting the Declaration of Readiness to Proceed form, you may also have to complete and file relevant medical reports, records, and information such as letters to the insurance company pertaining to all disputed issues. After the Declaration of Readiness to Proceed form has been received you will be sent notification of your conference date by mail.

If you have questions about the Declaration of Readiness to Proceed form contact your employer or your states workers' compensation board. Information, including workshops, are provided by the state to help workers with work comp claims.
